Steps in the Research Process

For conducting effective research work, it is important to follow some steps or actions. Below we have shared some important steps regarding the conduct of research.

Step 1 – Formulate a Research Problem

This is the very first step of your research work where you have to formulate a research problem. While formulating the problem your goal should be clear that what is your intention through this research.
This one is the most important step from all where you need to consider each aspect related to the research work like time, cost, required expertise, etc.

 Step 2- Identifying the Research Design

After selecting the Research Problem, you will require to identify the appropriate methods and strategy to get a 100% predictable outcome.
So, before selecting the design of research you must confirm that the base of selecting this design is strong.

Step 3 – Collecting Data for Research

The research process is completely based on the data that you collect. So, it is very important to have quality information.

Step 4 - Deciding the Sampling Design

You have to select one of the three sampling designs which are – Random/Probability sampling designs, Non-Random/Non-Probability Sampling design, and ‘mixed’ sampling design.

After completing all the preparation of your research work, its time to provide the information about your research topic to the research supervisor and other.
Your research proposal should contain information like – objective, hypotheses, design of the study, sampling design, data processing procedure, limitations, problems and required time frame.

Step 6 – Processing and displaying data

At the last when you collect the data its time to analyse it. There is a very important role of analysis of data in the achievement of the research objective. The analysis method of the research project may vary between secondary and primary studies as well as between quantitative and qualitive studies.

Step 8 – Creating a Report

This one is the last and most difficult step in the research process. You have to create or write a report at the end of your research work to inform what you have done in the complete process. In this report, you have to mention the entire process and should be written in an academic style.
